Galaxy is a modern hybrid Magnolia with lightly fragrant purple-pink tulip-shaped flowers.

It is a bit more "tree-like" than some Magnolias, with a strong central stem which remains fairly dominant.

Galaxy was raised at the US National Arboretum in the 1960s. It is a cross between Magnolia liliiflora 'Nigra' and Magnolia sprengeri 'Diva'.
