Daphne

Magnolia acuminata
Daphne
Daphne has received the RHS Award of Garden Merit

Daphne is one of the best of the yellow-flowered Magnolias, the flowers have a really rich yellow colour.

Daphne also flowers over a longer flowering period than most Magnolias. The flowers appear slightly ahead of the leaves but the leaves eventually catch up.

It's compact habit makes it a good choice for smaller gardens.

How to grow

Daphne is one of the later-flowering Magnolias, which should mean you are less likely to see frost-damage on the flowers.

History

Daphne was developed from Miss Honeybee crossed with Gold Crown at the Wespelaar Arboretum in Belgium in the 1990s.
