Acer platanoides

Acer platanoides, also known as the Norway Maple is large fast-growing tree. It has characteristic bright green 5-lobed leaves that turn yellow in autumn.

Pale green flowers appear in early spring, ahead of the leaves, and fall as winged seeds in the autumn.

    How to grow

Acer platanoides is easy to grow, but does best in a sheltered spot with well-drained soil. It will tolerate city pollution.

Acer platanoides has a wide climate range, and is native from western Europe to western Asia, and north into Scandanavia. It is very cold-hardy.
