'Jermyns' is one of the best forms of the popular Himalayan birch Betula utilis jacquemontii, growing vigorously and featuring a bright white stem.

The large catkins are also characteristic of this variety.

Betula utilis jacquemontii 'Jermyns' was identified as a new variety at the Hillier Nursery in Hampshire, UK, in the 1960s, having been imported from a Belgian nursery.

Betula Grayswood Ghost himalayan birch tree


Leaves may not be present during winter, and we may prune some shoots to fit the delivery carton. Size may vary during the season and between batches. The container (if supplied) is only used for transporting the tree, which should then be planted out in the garden or in a much larger patio planter (not all species are suitable for patio planting).

The white stem which is the key feature of this form of Betula utilis jacquemontii only becomes apparent as the tree matures.
