'Fastigiata Joes' is a striking columnar silver birch. The compact upright shape makes this an ideal tree for the smaller garden, whilst several planted along a driveway look quite striking.
The leaves are neat and small, and the branches twist attractively. In autumn the leaves turn yellow / orange.
The characteristic white bark colour develops after 3-5 years.
These trees are sometimes too tall to fit in a regular mail order carton but if you need several we can send them on a pallet - just get in touch, these are impressive trees.
'Fastigiata Joes' was developed in Holland. It is a much improved form of Betula pendula 'Fastigiata' and won the 'Best in Category' award for Trees and Shrubs at the 2016 UK National Plant Show.
'Fastigiate' is a botanical term used to describe a tree where the branches are carried parallel to the main stem, giving a distinctive columnar appearance.
